Longtime educator Loriann Leota thrives on being able to roll up her sleeves and jump right into assisting her students, teachers and administrators – motivated by her love for a good team dynamic.
Leota is bringing her hands-on approach to education – backed by a decade of experience in teaching and administration roles – to Pendleton Elementary School, where she will serve as principal in 2021-22.
“I am deeply honored to lead Pendleton because of its proven track record as an amazing school,” Leota said. “I am thrilled that I get to be a part of such a fantastic team and not only lead them, but also work beside them to benefit all of our students and the community.”
Prior to coming to Buena Park School District, Leota served as a teacher, curriculum specialist, curriculum developer, summer school principal and assistant principal in Compton Unified School District and as an assistant principal in Bellflower Unified School District.
She said that her experience in teaching and leading schools in urban areas means she has a distinct focus for inclusion to ensure her students can achieve and grow.
Leota holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from William Paterson University, a master’s degree in teaching with a focus on urban education from the University of Southern California and a master’s degree in educational administration from Concordia University Irvine.
“We are honored and proud to have Loriann Leota join our District and community as our newest principal – she is a fantastic educator with a sterling background,” Superintendent Dr. Ramon Miramontes said. “I know that her experience will be a boon to our community.”
