Welcome to the Health Services Department!

The Health Services Department works to provide a safe and secure environment for students and staff through coordination of health services, wellness, programs, screenings and evaluations. Success in schools requires the enhancement and promotion of on joining optimal health and well-being. Consisting of a team of licenses and credentials School Nurses, Licensed LVN’s (provided by Orange County Department of Education) and Health Clerks, the Health Services Department of the Buena Park School District works with students, families and staff to provide a safe and healthy school environment. We are committed to continually strive for excellence, ensure educational achievement for each student and advocate health promotion and wellness.

What is a District School Nurse?

A District School Nurse specializes in nursing practice that advances the well-being, academic success, lifelong achievement, and overall health of students.  School nurses are responsible for identifying both actual and potential health problems, providing case management services, collaborating with educators, school officials, students, and families to ensure students respond positively to their environment and develop normal. The school nurse is a member of a unique discipline of professional nursing and is often the sole healthcare provider in an academic setting.  District School Nurses are required to have a Registered Nurse license, Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Public Health Nurse license, and School Nurse Credential.

NURSE GOODMAN

Claire is a registered nurse with a bachelors degree in nursing. Nurse Goodman has been with BPSD for three years enjoys working in our elementary and secondary schools. She loves working with youth and families to support the health, wellness and safety of our families. Nurse Goodman enjoys dancing and gardening with her family.
