Health Services
Success in schools requires the enhancement and promotion of ongoing optimal health and well-being. The Health Services Department of the Buena Park School District consists of a team of licensed and credentialed school nurses, licensed vocational nurses (provided by the Orange County Department of Education) and health clerks who work with students, families, and staff to provide a safe and healthy environment. The Health Services Department is committed to continually strive for excellence, ensure educational achievement for each student, and advocate health promotion and wellness through the coordination of health services, wellness, programs, screenings and evaluations.

Claire Goodman is a registered nurse with a Bachelor's Degree in nursing. Nurse Goodman has been with BPSD for three years, and enjoys working in our elementary and secondary schools. She loves working with youth and families to support the health, wellness, and safety of our families. Nurse Goodman also enjoys dancing and gardening with her family.
DISTRICT SCHOOL NURSE
School nurses are responsible for identifying both actual and potential health problems, providing case management services, and collaborating with educators, school officials, students, and families to ensure students respond positively to their environment and develop normally. They are a member of a unique discipline of professional nursing and are often the sole healthcare provider in an academic setting.
A District School Nurse specializes in nursing practice that advances the well-being, academic success, lifelong achievement, and overall health of students. The District School Nurse is required to have a Registered Nurse license, Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Public Health Nurse license, and School Nurse Credential.
