Volunteers
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Buena Park School District. We appreciate your commitment and energy investment as we work collaboratively to support the growth and learning of our students. In order to ensure the safety of our students, families, and community along with ensuring compliance with State and Federal laws, we have a tiered volunteer system as follows below, and we are currently working with each school site's administrative teams to ensure all parents, family, friends, caregivers, and community members can navigate our volunteer onboarding process to stay engaged and connected as seamlessly as possible. We appreciate your patience and support as we work together to support our students.

VISITORS:
Event Attendees:
• No direct student supervision or interaction beyond own student
Visitor Checklist:
- Check-in at school/site.
- Application NOT Required.

TIER 1 VOLUNTEERS:
Limited-student Contact Volunteers with Occasional Attendance:
• Single-event helpers
• Guest speakers
• Does not supervise students without a district staff member present
Tier 1 Checklist:
- Read BPSD Volunteer Handbook.
- School/site sign in and screening through Raptor system required with each daily entry to school/site.
- Application NOT Required.

TIER 2 VOLUNTEERS:
Regular Volunteers with Fully Supervised Student Contact:
• Classroom helpers
• Office volunteers
• Day field trip chaperones under constant and direct supervision of immediate staff member
• Does not supervise students without a district staff member’s constant & immediate presence.
Tier 2 Checklist:
- Read BPSD Volunteer Handbook.
- School/site sign in and screening through Raptor system required with each daily entry to school/site.
- Complete and submit signed Volunteer Application and Acknowledgement.
- Submit tuberculosis clearance.
- Complete annual Mandated Reporter: Child Abuse & Neglect Training.

TIER 3 VOLUNTEERS:
Student Support Volunteer - or - Direct Student Contact Volunteer:
• Field Trips
• Overnight chaperones
• May supervise students under direction of a district staff member with brief alone periods or out of the immediate sightline of District staff
Tier 3 Checklist:
- Read BPSD Volunteer Handbook
- School/site sign in and screening through Raptor system required with each daily entry to school/site.
- Complete and submit signed Volunteer Application and Acknowledgement.
- Submit tuberculosis clearance.
- Complete annual Mandated Reporter: Child Abuse & Neglect Training.
- Clearance of Live Scan Fingerprints through Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI.
- PRESCHOOL VOLUNTEERS ONLY - Submit Proof of Immunization Records.
